21 Schools in Limerick to benefit under acceleration of National Broadband Plan

Added December 11th, 2020

This is fantastic news for the schools that have been selected. Prior to this announcement some schools would have had to wait up to seven years for a connection. All schools will now be connected within the next two years. This is a real investment in education and rural Ireland. The fast tracking of connectivity for schools is a great first step in speeding up the delivery of the National Broadband Plan”

This acceleration of the National Broadband Plan (NBP) will see 679 schools connected to broadband by the end of 2022 including 21 schools in Limerick.

The schools to benefit under the acceleration are:

Killoughteen National School, Killinure National School, Scoil Tobar Padraig, Dromtrasna National School, Donoughmore National School, Caherline National School, Lough Gur National School, Croagh National School, Scoil Aine Naofa, Scoil Naomh Iosef, Hospital National School, Convent Of Mercy National School, Shanagolden National School, Scoil Naomh Muire, Knocknadea National School, Anglesboro National School, Coolcappa National School, Tinnatarriff National School, Gerald Griffin National School, Loughill, Mountcollins National School and Limerick East Educate Together National School.

“This decision on the acceleration of National Broadband Plan will insure that Ireland and in particular its schools will participate in the digital transformation that is taking place. It will provide opportunities for schools in the delivery of their education programmes under the Governments Digital Strategy for Schools.”
