Minister Patrick O’Donovan TD has secured funding of €36,000 for minor flood relief works at Ballinlonig, Dromcollogher. Patrick O’Donovan secured the funding from the Office of Public Works in response to queries he had received from residents in the area who had raised the issue of flooding with him.
“I am delighted to have secured this funding from my colleague Minister Sean Canney TD, Minister of State for the OPW. This money is being allocated to Limerick City and County Council to carry out badly needed works in the area, aimed at preventing future flooding. I know from meeting local people in the area that this was an issue that they are anxious to get resolved, and having secured the money from OPW, I look forward now to Limerick City and County Council carrying out the necessary works.”
Patrick O’Donovan said that he has been working closely with Minister Sean Canney on securing funding for a number of flood relief projects in Limerick and he said he is confident of further allocations been made to communities in Co. Limerick in the near future.
“I am committed to working within the Government to get the maximum amount of funding for projects like this one in Dromcollogher, and I will work with my colleagues to ensure that these projects, and others, are pushed at the highest possible level.”
